Urban agriculture conference - call for papers and posters

Updated: Feb 5, 2020

Our research project team is organizing an international scientific conference "Urban agriculture as a strategy for improving the quality of life of urban communities." The conference will take place in Sofia, on 28 April 2020. The aim of the conference is to present the scientific knowledge gained as a result of the project activities, as well as to exchange knowledge and experience with researchers and experts from different disciplines working in different locations and on various research issues related to the social, economic, environmental and urban development aspects of urban agriculture.

We expect original and innovative approaches to the analysis and interpretation of the processes of production and consumption of food in urban areas, the relationships between the main key actors in public life - citizens, public institutions, businesses and NGOs in the regulation of these processes. The focus of the conference will also be on the opportunities for sustainable local and innovative business models aimed at alternative perspectives for the development of vulnerable urban areas and social groups, public-private business partnerships and social entrepreneurship through sustainable food production and consumption. We would also like to pay special attention to the environment and natural resources, the conservation of which is key to the sustainable development of society and the quality of life of individuals and communities in the cities.

Applications for a presentation or poster should be submitted to the following email address: project.urban.agriculture@gmail.com by February 10, 2020 including your name, title, affiliation and a summary (not longer than 300 words) of your proposed oral or poster presentation.

The official languages of the conference are Bulgarian and English.
